My journey creating handmade soaps & soy candles

Originally from Humpty Doo in the Northern Territory, I moved to Queensland in December 2010 for a new beginning. While working in the corporate world until 2014, I fell in love with the "Dutchess of Suds" Katie Carson herself via her YouTube Channel, Royalty Soaps and started making my own simple soaps for personal use.

 

 

 

In April 2014, I moved to Queensland's North-West with my now Husband (Graeme) for a work placement. During this time, Royalty Soaps continued to inspire me to learn about the age old technique of cold process soap and how to calculate safe recipes. After finally perfecting what I believe to be a perfect soap recipe, I then turned to Holly from Missouri River Soap who between her and Katie, gave me the confidence to start making my soaps aesthetically pleasing and what they are today.

 

 

In 2019 we moved again to a larger town (1,000 people!) and it's here I started selling my travel tin candles to the tourists at markets. The range expanded from 2-3 places for each state or territory to 10 of each!

When creating my range of candles, I was conscience of what is good for our bodies and home and decided to craft 100% soy candles with premium cotton wicks to avoid the nasties where I can.

 

From these humble beginnings and with the support of the Hughenden locals, my product range increased to include not only candles and artisan soaps, but bath bombs, shower steamers, face creams, reed diffusers and the list continues.

 

All of my cold process soaps are made using my palm-free recipe. Only the good stuff lives in them including Australian made olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter and apricot kernel oil.
